EU and Canada vaccination rate has increased, while the UK and USA slows

Posted on Jul 21, 2021

Vaccination rates in the EU and Canada have increased, closing the gap with the UK and USA whose vaccination rates have slowed. Some EU countries have made significant gains, namely Spain and Germany. Spain has now fully vaccinated more people than the US and is likely to catch the UK.

Germany is likely to be fully vaccinated at a similar time to the UK, should their current rate continue. The EU as a whole remains behind the UK and the bloc is unlikely to be fully vaccinated within the same time as the UK.

Portugal has also made good progress and joins Spain and Canada in administering the most doses last week. Israel is now administering a very low number of doses each week, while many countries are now vaccinating more quickly than the UK.
