Senior Modeler/Analyst, Cleared (Contingent)

Objective of the role: Airfinity is a pioneer in evaluating biorisks, providing predictive health analytics, models and forecasts that decision makers can trust, understand and act on to preempt risks from biological threats.

Airfinity is looking for a passionate Biorisk Senior Modeler/Analyst to join its predictive analytics function supporting the delivery of insights for our customers focused on infectious disease and biorisks. This role is contingent upon execution of an anticipated contract serving the US Federal market. An active (not prior or inactive) TS-SCI clearance is required.

Your role will be to lead efforts to forecast, assess risk, and build predictive models for a number of indicators such as disease burden, pathogen dynamics, medical countermeasure availability, environmental and societal factors, and more within infectious diseases globally. In the context of this role, you will also be responsible for assessing the risk of outbreaks in countries and regions worldwide for spread and pandemic potential, using statistical models, data analysis, and surveillance systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of predictive models relating to biorisks in a client-facing role

  • Turn science-related data into compelling biorisk insights for clients using a wide range of predictive modeling techniques

  • Analyze data from many different sources to identify and monitor disease outbreaks, including epidemiological reports, public health bulletins, media reports, wastewater pathogen testing data, travel data, climate data, geospatial image data, and other relevant data sources and turn findings into clear insights into written and oral analysis for clients

  • Develop and implement outbreak risk assessment tools and methodologies to identify high-risk areas and populations

  • Analyze and interpret data using statistical models and predictive analytics to forecast the likelihood of outbreaks and their potential impact

  • Understand the key questions that clients need answering and develop creative solutions to quickly and effectively solve their problems

  • Build forecasts and risk assessment to aid decision makers’ strategies

Skills and Qualifications:

  • MA or PhD in computational methods or a related field

  • Analytically curious and strong background in biological sciences and how analytics can be used to save lives, background in infectious diseases preferred

  • Knowledge of predictive and risk based forecast modeling, including development and implementation

  • Experience of leading projects and teams

  • Ability to work onsite in a cleared facility (TS-SCI required)

  • Ability to distill complex ideas and models into understandable and actionable insights in plain language for decision makers

  • Experience with R and/or Python, SQL and Machine Learning

  • Comfortable with large-scale libraries and working with different profiles (quants, IT, MO, Risk)
